24M Chinese Men Might Not Have Spouses on 2020

The Global Times featured a study made by the Chinese Academy for Social Sciences. According to the studies, approximately 24 million men of marrying age will not be successful to have spouses n 2020.

Due to sex-specific abortions that still practiced in several rural areas wherein boys are more preferred than girls, it is most likely to happen that Chinese men will have difficulty because of the age gap between partners, and also lower income of some males. According to Wang Yuesheng, a researcher said that men in poorer parts of China would be forced to accept marriages late in life or remain single for life, which could “cause a break in family lines.” If a Chinese male reaches 40, it was believed that it will be rare for a man on that age to get married because low social security is present during that age. Males are more preferred in China because they believed that they are more capable to have high earnings as well as the ability of taking care of the elderly. Chinese authorities stated that the normal male-female ratio at between 103-107 males for every 100 females, but it was different in 2005, it boosted to 119 boys for every 100 girls, not only that, according to Mirror Evening,  in some areas the male-female ratio was as high as 130 males for every 100 females.
