“Dude, you inspire me.”

I started this draft last June 26, 2011, but I only have the title. I don’t know why I can’t start composing this piece, I can’t think on how to start even though several ideas came to my mind. Then last Saturday while I was updating my blog’s Facebook fan page, I saw this video clip from the talent search called “The X Factor” and saw Chris Rene’s performance. Everything comes at the right place and at the right time and I think Chris is the instrument for making me write this article.

Who is Chris Rene? Chris, 28, is a trash collector, living in Sta.Cruz California and a father of a two-year old boy. He just got out from rehab he’s been there for 70 days. According to him, he started smoking weed at the age of 12 or 13, when he was 15 he started drinking beer and became addicted to cocaine and amphetamines. Now that he was out of the rehab and ready to go on a straight path he wants to fulfill his dreams for himself, for his family and for his son…”I wanna be on stages, singing for people, making money.” said Chris.

Sometimes we just have to roll the dice. On his live audition at the “X Factor”, he chose to sing his original composition, he even made the sound for it… it’s a total package but yet it’s a gamble. We all know that in singing contests most contestants have to choose a song which is well-suited to their voice. It’s very rare that an own composition and first time to be heard by the audience more importantly by the judges can make an aspiring singer succeed. But Chris did the unthinkable.

At first when he was asked about the title of his song, he said “Young Homie”, the  audience laugh a little bit and the judges look at each other… a sign that they doubt if they will like it. Chris bravely rolled the dice and never got distracted. It’s showtime!

The judges as well as the whole audience were so impressed on his performance, and you know what happened next? All of them gave Chris a standing ovation, the highest form of respect and appreciation a performer will receive.

He managed to roll the dice… he took the gamble and win in the end. I suddenly recall this quote, “If you don’t try you’ll never know if you can do it”. I also love this certain statement by Chris when he was on interview, he said…

“There’s always a chance, there’s always a choice. Life is too precious to waste.”

THIS IS A REPOST, GETTING TIRED OF HEARING REVIVALS THIS PAST FEW DAYS….

Bato bato sa langit ang tamaan huwag magagalit! Opinyon lang po mga kababayan!

I can’t take it anymore! Honestly, I’m so tired of hearing the same songs every day. If you can notice, some singers nowadays just revive songs and earn money from it. Before the “Revival Era” of different songs were made, I feel fine about it, some singers said that they were inspired by the song’s message, I’ve got no problem about it. But days have passed, I noticed that all I can hear on the radio was revived songs. It’s fine with me if the revived songs are better than the original, but it’s a slap on the face on the original artist who made the great song and someone just made a crap out of it. It is also fine with me if they will include a revival on the album they are going to launch, but it’s a big “NO” from me if they will launch an album which contains all crappy revived songs.

Here’s another thing, it’s not about the revival issue, but it’s about producing another version of the song. If you’re the artist who made the song, and after a week someone will produce his/her version of it, what can you feel?

I can still remember when Lady Gaga launched “Poker Face”, as expected, a week after the song’s debut, two different artists made an acoustic version of the song, one sung by a guy (his version sucks, honestly!) and one was a version made by a girl, who launched her album containing different songs WRITTEN and LAUNCHED by other artists and all she did was made an acoustic version of the songs.

In a forum in Pinoy Exchange there’s a thread about “Why do OPM artists never get tired of reviving songs?” I feel so glad when I realized that I am not the only one tired of the same thing. Click the link to read all the comments on the thread.

“pwede naman silang gumawa ng sarili nilang cheesy and mushy material. Why revive that so much?… Tribute albums are not bad, pero minsan gumagawa sila ng ganun to the point na may mali na”

“May mga artists na walang kwentang mag-revive. You see, hindi naman namin sinasabing masama mag-revive. Pero masyadong marami na at yung karamihan pa ng revivals eh puro crap stuff. May mga revivals na imbis na binubuhay yung kanta, mas pinapatay pa nila. They are doing a huge injustice to the song”

“why they don’t get tired of reviving old music? money, money, and more money baby …”

“easy money pala pag di ka ganun ka creative and inventive sa songs hehehehe. Basta sikat yun kanta….me itsura yun singer…maganda boses…..patok na hehehe”

Again, bato-bato a langit ang tamaan ‘wag magagalit! This is just my opinion, I intentionally removed the names of the specific artists because I don’t want to add disgrace on them. I hope this post will reach them.

I don’t care…e-e-e-e, I don’t care…e-e-e! Though I don’t know what the song is all about, I was a 2NE1 fan, and honestly it’s because of Sandara Park. I am happy to announce that the K-pop girl group 2NE1 will be in Manila! They will perform at the Araneta Coliseum on June 4, 2011. The first announced date was on May 15, 2011 but it was moved to June 4.

I already love Sandara Park before she was this famous. She started at Star Circle Quest, and I can’t help myself not to be angry at the panel of judges who don’t know anything but to criticize. I know it’s their job and part on the show but I really can’t stand it when I saw her cry because of the harsh criticisms she hear.

But she learned from it I guess, who wouldn’t learn from a very embarrassing experience like that. Now that she is now a K-pop superstar, I am proud to say that I loved her from the start!

A special website in Europe has a special streaming of all 14 tracks that are included in the new album. Guess who is back in American Idol? She is no other than the Season 6 American Idol winner Jordin Sparks who premiered her song “I am Woman” in American Idol show last night. The youngest American Idol winner (she was 17 that time) is now a grown lady, wearing a silver metallic trench coat which show off her sculpted body.

I wonder what’s on his mind. Manny Pacquiao keeps on doing unexpected stuffs, and I think I like it, I love surprises. After winning his seat to the Congress, Manny will release his recording of “Sometimes When We Touch”, before his match in Las Vegas against Shane Mosley. The recording was made with the song’s creator, Dan Hill and it will be released on April 28.

The said song was already performed by Manny on a U.S. late night TV show, “The Jimmy Kimmel Show” which aired last November 2010, and he will be back to the show next week for the debut of the new track.
