“Anything that is too much is bad!” Recently, a 20-year old son died because of overplaying Xbox games. Chris Staniforth died because of pulmonary embolism, this occurs when someone sits in the same position for several hours. This death-causing effect usually happened to passengers with long flights, and experts say that this can also happen to gamers if they don’t take several breaks. Even a professor on blood-related conditions confirms that it was really unhealthy to have a gaming habit like that.

According to David Staniforth, Chris’ father said that his son played Halo for 12 hours. David started a campaign that aims to make gamers realize that too much playing online games can kill them. He wants to warn gamers and parents as well about the risk of too much playing online games.

This is not the first time that this incident happened, in 2005, a South Korean gamer died because of playing for three days without a break. Also, studies show that Asian players usually collapsed after 15 hours of playing games. What a weird fact is that?

It is really fun to sit with someone special, talk about something and share some thoughts with him or her. A while ago, my girl and I had a little chat, it’s about dying.  It all started when I told her that when I die, I want her to donate my eyes, my heart and my kidney to a hospital so that those who need such organs for their transplant will benefit it. I also told her that if ever I will have an incurable sickness or disease or if I’ll be in comatose state, I want her to leave me and she can find someone else to love. I don’t want her to suffer because of me, I told her that it’s fine with me and she has my approval.

Then she asked me this question, she said “What if I am the one who is experiencing those that you said and I ask you not to leave me, will you stay? I said, “Of course, I will not leave you.”

Here’s the rest of the conversation:

Honey: What if I asked you to marry me even if you know that I am going to die?

Me: Sure, I’ll marry you!

Honey: Where?

Me: Sa Huwes!

Honey:  What if my last wish is to have a Church Wedding?

Me: Ok, let’s have a church wedding, pero wala nang handa.

Honey: Bakit naman?

Me: Sayang naman, pambili na lang natin ng gamot mo ‘yun malay mo gumaling ka pa, anu gusto mo may handa tapos mamatay ka naman,o ‘yung walang handa tapos mabubuhay ka? Oh di ba?

When she heard my answer, all she did was laugh, she never thought that I would answer that way, she almost had asthma because of laughing.

I don’t know if I really am a weird boyfriend or just a guy who speak out what’s on his mind. I think I am a very direct to the point person with a weird sense of humor. If she read this, she might kill me if she will know that I shared our conversation.

China reacted when they knew the report that there’s a Philippine flag over Rolando Mendoza’s coffin. Mendoza is the one involved on the recent tourist bus hostage crisis that led to the death of eight Hong Kong tourists. The Chinese Embassy released a statement that “The person who deserves a national flag at funeral should be someone of heroism, decency and integrity, not someone who inflicts atrocity on innocent lives,” (Yahoo Philippines). Presidential Spokesman Edwin Lacierda confirmed that the flag has been removed according to Tanauan Mayor Sonia Torres.

It was a tradition in the Philippines that a flag will be put over the coffin of a dead police or military member, it symbolizes heroism, but what Mendoza did brought disgrace to the country he served. In different websites and blogs, you can read comments that agree to the removal of the flag.

For me, I also agree on the same thing, though Mendoza became a member of the police, the virtues he showed before he died are not a virtue of a hero. His actions resulted to a very tragic ending, killing innocent people, all because of what he is fighting for. I’m sorry Mr.Mendoza.

While doing my blog hopping, I saw this post in Technograph entitled “Bus Hostage Crisis: When Camwhoring Becomes Shameful”. To my surprise, stupid fellow Filipinos made the crime scene as a tourist spot. “Mahiya naman kayo!” that’s what I said when I saw the pictures. Some insensitive fellow Filipinos took a picture of them near the bus where people were killed on the tragic hostage taking incident. How could you smile while waiting for your camera took a shot even though you know that people died there? First I saw the pictures of the nursing students who took a group picture, “YAN BA PINAG AARALAN NYO?”  What pissed me more is when I saw the pictures of policemen and SOCO members smiling on the camera and they are BESIDE the bus. I won’t post the pictures here, I don’t want to have it on my blog.

On the blog post, it was stated there that someone Twitted the blog owner and said that the students are there because they were part of the ceremony paying respects for the dead, and these students are just taking a memento.  Memento? WTF! If they really respect the dead, they shouldn’t  have done that, all eyes are focused in our country because of that. We already experienced shame and embarrassment when we saw how the police handled the situation, and now you added more disgrace.  And for the policemen who took their pictures, I know your point Mr.Technograph, I agree with you.
I apologize to those who might get affected of this issue, especially to those who experienced the tragedy.

What happened in Quirino Grandstand could have been avoided if proper tactics have been implemented. I felt so sad on how the hostage taking has ended. Many were killed, although some luckily lived, but the trauma will cause them a forever nightmare. I’m not good at police tactics, but I think I still know some good points on how to make one.

They shouldn’t take Rolando Mendoza’s brother  as accessory of the crime.

That made him angry. Obviously. I know you can get my point, and I bet that triggered his temper.

Do you have night vision-capable gadgets?

I’m not sure about this, I just assumed that the snipers don’t have one. On the situation that the hostage taker turned off the lights, our so-called snipers should have established a position distant to the bus but in a place which they can have a clear view, for instance, forward-facing the bus.  Zoom-in and at the same time turn on your night vision gadget and I bet you know what will happen next.

Here’s the tear gas! Oops I missed! Retreat!

While watching it on television, I saw a policeman threw a tear gas, and he missed. Instead, the tear gas bounced back and fell in front of them. Come to think of it, what if it’s a grenade? It’s tragedy! Hey Chief of Police, teach your men basketball, so they know how to throw a shot.

Tear gas successfully thrown, flash bang successfully thrown, here I enter the bus, Oops I got no mask, retreat! Atras! Booo!

Policemen should have a technician, maybe an Instrumentation Technician.

Do they know this? The bus’ door is hydraulically-powered. A concerned citizen said that there’s a button near the door that bus operators/drivers used when the door got stuck up. And if it’s impossible to do, all they need is to cut the hydraulic hose and that’s it, you can open the door without smashing it with a sledge hammer!

Lastly, buy a rope that can pull a bus’ door.  Hanep sa tactic, sira sa hila!

Poor Philippines,  our tourism will be greatly affected. The damage has been done, and we can’t turn back time. We learn when we commit mistakes, but we don’t have to commit mistakes just to learn.

Haiti Quake, Death Toll Might Reach 100,000

Last Wednesday, Haiti’s Prime Minister Jean-Max Bellerive said that the death toll might reach 100,000. The capital of Port-au-Prince was mostly destroyed by the earthquake leaving hospitals and schools collapsed, resulting to trapped victims and many dead people crushed in buildings.  The 7.0 earthquake intensity made it more difficult for medical people to give aid to those affected because the hospitals are also destroyed by the quake’s rage.

But according to the Haitian Government, the death toll might rise from 50,000 as of today to 200,000 on the following days. The search, rescue and retrieval operations are still retrieving bodies from the rubble of the collapsed buildings.  The government has started burying dead bodies in mass graves, due to emergency, because they have to provide aid to those who have survived.

Wyclef Jean, ex- member of the hip-hop group Fugees and his wife fashion designer Marie Claudinette Jean, spent their Thursday clearing the bodies from the streets at Port Au-Prince. He helped his fellow native Haitis picking up dead bodies, but the problem is the morgues and cemeteries are now filled up. He is calling for a state of emergency, and he said that in order Haiti to survive, they need a million dollars a day. He has become the celebrity face of the Haitian earthquake appeal after flying into his home country to pull bodies from the rubble. Jean has his charity where he raised money it is called Yele Haiti, he founded it on 2005. Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt who previously worked with his foundation supported him, backing up his call for help.

Jean aside from his charity Yele Haiti, has also worked with the United Nations World Food Programme and the Pan American Development Foundation to improve food distribution in the country.
