Motorola Droid Bionic Release Date

This Droid Bionic was announced by Motorola last January and now the release date was confirmed through Verizon Wireless’ Twitter. According to the “tweeted” post, the Motorola Droid Bionic will be released on September 8. Motorola Droid Bionic was believed to be the rival of the iPhone 5 which until now has no specific date of release. How bionic is this phone?

Video Calling Support from Skype to 17 Android Phones

Skype now supports 17 Android phones! Video calling is now possible but this supports Android version 2.2 (Froyo) and higher. To those with lower versions, worry no more because there are certain app settings to change to enable video calling. In the lower Android versions, vide calling is possible with the use of the rear camera, but if you have Android version 2.3 (Gingerbread) you can enjoy the app with the use of the front camera.

Sex or Smartphone: Which Will You Choose?

There is a survey conducted by Telenav showing what people can give up for a week in exchange of having their smartphones with them. Smartphone nowadays is already a part of our daily living, it’s a fact that our lifestyle has been greatly affected by this handheld unit. For some people, they usually think that their sense of style is based on their smartphone, some use their phones to update the online social network they use and some even use it for their businesses. Some people even resort to their smartphones to do unusual stuffs, did you ever experienced ending a relationship via email, Facebook or even Twitter?

This survey was conducted among US citizens but I guess with the rampant influence and popularity of these new phones I can say that this might be quite similar to us, too!

Here are some pleasures and activities people can give up for their mobile phones:

70% of them can give up alcohol – this seems pretty easy, even I can do this. Looking at the brighter side, this gives more advantages to us, we will not get drunk, we will not spend money and we will not suffer from hangover.
63% of them can give up chocolate – we all love chocolate, but I think this is still easy to give up. Advantage: no need to burn more calories, avoided high sugar level
55% of them can give up caffeine – still easy
54% of them can give up exercise – no sweat

Apple Now Leading… Putting Nokia Behind

Nokia started releasing smartphones with Symbian as their chosen platform, this OS helped them lead the mobile industry that time. Then in 2007, it seems that Nokia finally faced the nightmare they couldn’t avoid, Apple. Yes, Nokia was dethroned since the first iPhone was unveiled, Apple became the top smartphone vendor in the world.

This year’s second quarter was fruitful for Apple, they have shipped 20.3 million iPhones while Nokia shipped 16.7 million, according to reports this was 34% lesser than the shipment they have on last year’s second quarter. Apple’s Android leads the race, maybe because it has several manufacturer supporters unlike iOS. Nokia have these upcoming Windows Phone 7 devices, they expect that they can elevate their sales because of these. Well, that’s how business works, you really have to show the difference between your products and prove that you offer the better one.

Nokia C3-01.5, the 1GHz S40 Phone Unveiled

The newest phone made by Nokia was unveiled, it is the Nokia C3-01.5, the first phone made with the new hardware platform. It is included in the S40 series of handsets that will be launched soon. This S40 phone has a 1GHz processor and 512MB RAM, this phone resembles the C3-01, almost exact if you would compare. It has the Touch and Type feature, only more high-end because of it processor and 512MB RAM…and the rest are just the same.

As of now according to a reliable source, Nokia are still developing other models such as:

C2-01.5 (RM722)
C3-01.5 (RM-702)
X2-01/X2-03 (RM-709)
X3-02.5 (RM775 or RM-776)
X2-01.1(RM-717)

I can’t wait to see it personally!

Google Photovine Available at the App Store

Google’s social/photo service is now available at the App Store, but this app is available for iOS not with Android mobile carriers. So, how it works? Google Photovine allows you to have vines of photos, starting by uploading a single photo, then your friends will also be allowed to add photos to the vine, as a result you’ll have a growing vine with lots of branching photos.

The vine will have a single title, but the photos attached to the vines will have its own descriptions you can put in the captions. Google described it as “a fun way to learn more about your friends, meet new people and share your world like never before”.

Google recently released a free-invite only on this iOS app so you better hurry now that Google’s products are highly in demand these past few days. You can now request an invite on the official Photovine page, this is a must so that you can fully take advantage of the said app.

7 New Blackberries to be Launched this Year

RIM’s sales have been weak on this year’s two first quarters, so they are now planning to launch SEVEN (7) NEW BLACKBERRIES. These new smartphones were believed to be powered by BB OS 7 or might be powered by the rumored QNX-based OS. The new OS was delayed because the company focuses more on the market’s expectations on their smartphones, according to Mike Lazaridis.

They have an ambitious target now that it’s only five months before this year ends. But Jim Balsilie, RIM’s co-CEO, admits that their ambitious target is really hard to obtain but still he believes that they can release the seven new smartphones. They are also hoping that through this, they can reach the financial targets they are aiming this year. But analysts have doubt that they can fulfill the ambitious goal they set now that RIM’s share price dropped to more than 50%. Let’s just wait and see if they can really do it.
