SIM-LEI is the electric car developed by the electric vehicle specialist SIM-Drive. They have unveiled a future car that they hoped they can mass produce in 2013. Though the price is not yet confirmed, they make sure that the cost will be worth it because of its performance. SIM-LEI can run 333km or 207 miles before the battery’s charge will be completely drained, that’s a lot longer than Nissan’s Leaf which was launch last year, it can run up to a 160-kilometer range.

SIM-LEI is a joint project by SIM-Drive, Mitsubishi Motors, IHI and 34 more organizations, all are looking up for a mass production of the electric car. If they can solve the issue of the costly batteries, the dream they are aiming will never be a problem.

Who says an electric car cannot dominate an auto show? The Nissan Leaf made it possible by winning the New York International Auto Show, beating the Audi A8 and the BMW 5 Series. This car costs $32, 780, this is the price before the tax incentive, and now it only costs $20,490, making it the most affordable electric vehicle in the U.S. This car is also the first mass-marketed electric vehicle, equipped with the zero-emission technology, a green car designed with considerations for the environment and health.

Check these features of the Nissan Leaf:

• World’s first car which is 5-seater, 5-door hatchback
• An electric motor with 108hp and 206 lb ft of torque, powered by lithium-ion battery modules
• 90 mph top speed
• Can run 100 miles on full charge (as per Nissan)
• 8 hours charging time using 220-240V power supply

But the Nissan Leaf didn’t get the award for the 2011 World Green Car of the Year, it’s the Chevy Volt who gained the award, with a hybrid technology of switching electricity to gasoline as the battery charge depleted.

Although the Nissan Leaf didn’t get that award, I’m still impressed with this new form of car technology. Transportation when innovated in such manner wherein all possible aspects that might be affected will be taken into consideration, environmental pollution will never become a problem anymore.

Daytona Beach, Fla.

Jamie McMurray successfully won the Daytona 500 race held last February 14, 2010. It was his first time to win a NASCAR event like this. He beat his tough competitor Dale Earnhardt Jr., with only 0.12 seconds difference. The next three top racers Greg Biffle, Clint Bower and Kevin Harvick completed the top 5 finishers. McMurray also won in Talladega last November and it’s a very sweet Valentine’s Day present for him to win the Daytona 500.

China’s car sales according to China Passenger Car Association soared to 10.3 million and total vehicle sales are estimated at 13.6 million (12.7 million sales of cars and light trucks and 900,000 bigger vehicles in 2009).
