HP Slate versus the Apple iPad
It looks like that the recently launched wireless tablet is in trouble. Just a while ago, a touch competitor in the same gadget category revealed the specifications of their new product. Presenting, the HP Slate, the details are courtesy of an internal HP presentation, which shows the specs of the upcoming device, including both its advantages over the iPad and its weaknesses–such as half of the battery life of Apple’s tablet.
Here are some of the differences on the specifications:
- The iPad’s screen resolution is a little bit better than the HP slate (1024×600 vs. 1024×768)
- HP Slates processor is 1.6 GHz Intel Atom Menlow 2530 while the iPad has 1Ghz Apple A4
- HP Slate is better in terms of graphics, powered by Intel UMA with graphics for 1080p playback
- HP Slate has more ports
- iPad has a battery which can last up to ten that can last up to ten hours, the HP Slate only can last up five hours
- HP Slate has a camera, a VGA webcam (inward facing) and 3MP camera (outward facing), the iPad don’t have it
- The HP Slate’s price starts at $549 for the 32GB model and $599 for the 64GB version. In comparison, the introductory price of an iPad starts at $499 for a Wi-Fi-only 16GB model.
If you have read my previous post about the iPad’s competitors, you will notice that the HP Slate is just one of them. There’s more to come, it looks like the tablet had the attention of different manufacturers, and they aim to beat the tablet which Apple produced.
