Oprah WInfrey Ending Her Show and Starting Her OWN

The show that reaches over 7 million viewers a day will finally end its 25th season. Oprah Winfrey, the “Queen of Daytime” decided to end her talk show “The Oprah Winfrey Show” on Sept.9, 2011. She informed her talk show staff last Thursday afternoon. This was confirmed by her spokesperson on New York Times. Oprah decided to end the talk show because she planned to make a network on her own. She called it “OWN”, The Oprah Winfrey Network. The said network will have its premiere on January 2011. OWN is a joint venture between Oprah’s production company and Discovery Communications.
CBS Television Distribution said, “We have the greatest respect for Oprah and wish her nothing but the best in her future endeavors. We know that anything she turns her hand to will be a great success. We look forward to working with her for the next several years and hopefully afterwards as well.”
